In 2002 an energetic Italian joined the official Italian Archaeological Mission with the Lerici Foundation, becoming a consultant and archaeologist for the Unesco sites of Laos (Vat Phou), Vietnam (My Son) and Myanmar (Sriksetra and the cities of Pyu). By 2008 he was utterly hooked on Vietnam and was invited by Hanoi to become a associate researcher by the Vietnamese Academy of Social Sciences at the Vietnamese Institute for the Conservation of Monuments (Ministry of Culture), due to his extensive efforts to document and preserve varying Vietnamese archaeological sites. His continued efforts in our region would eventually lead to his recognition in 2020 when he was awarded the honour of Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy for his contribution to the discovery and enhancement of extraordinary archaeological sites, World Heritage Sites, in Laos, Myanmar and, in particular, in Vietnam.
Today when he is not be invited to lead up new excavations, and after more than twenty years in this field, he is now glad to share his knowledge, experience, and story about this our corner of this incredible world with our guests.
